"I had no clue what an impact The Art of Goodwill would have on me and my art. First of all, I was treated as a professional from the first phone call to the event at the Speed. The encouragement and enthusiasm of the staff gave me energy to push the project, push my exploration of materials further."
I'm so glad I was a part of the 2018 Art of Goodwill residency program. The project was a perfect fit for me, since one of the requirements for the chosen artists was that at least 50% of their art was to be created from Goodwill merchandise, and I have been buying almost all of the wool fabric for my fiber art from the Goodwill stores for the last several years. I was also excited to have my work on display at an art museum, so that more people would learn about rug hooking as an art form.
The people from Goodwill who organized this event were all so helpful and encouraging and made it easy for me to get my projects finished and ready for the show. And the Goodwill personnel who were at the show were so helpful and complimentary—made me feel like I was a rock star!
